When Ayers Saint Gross (ASG) was engaged by Titan Development to perform design services for Vertex, a 218-unit student apartment development in Tempe, AZ, ASG asked Fisher Engineering, Inc. (FEI) to provide fire protection engineering, life safety design, and construction period services for the project.
Vertex is a residential village located a block away from Arizona State University’s main campus. The five-story residential buildings included in the project encompass one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units, some of which are loft-style apartments. Also included are a five-and-a-half-story, 370-space parking garage; 7,500 square feet of retail space; and 15,000 square feet of common amenity space for residents. Among the amenities are a state-of-the-art fitness center, a rock-climbing wall, a golf simulator, a movie theater, and an outdoor courtyard with a resort-style pool.
FEI’s services on the project included a preliminary site plan review, a code study report, design narrative development, drawing reviews, specification, construction documents development, and construction administration services, including shop submittal reviews and construction progress surveys.
