Toyo Ink Manufacturing PlantFounded in 1976 as a pigments distributor for the Toyo Ink Group, Toyo Ink Mfg. America, LLC is a leading manufacturer and distributor of packaging inks, adhesives, organic pigments, specialty chemicals and polymers for  in North America. In 2010, Toyo Ink elected to expand and renovate its existing, 55,000-square-foot, one-story warehouse manufacturing facility. The site includes two production plants, a warehouse, and an administrative office. The warehouse was expanded by approximately 10,838 square feet, while the gravure factory was expanded by approximately 6,000 square feet. The project included a flammable liquids storage area and general office areas. Due to allowable floor areas, the new addition and existing building were separated by a fire wall (in accordance with IBC Section 503.1) and treated as two separate buildings.

As part of the design team led by KBD Group, Inc., Fisher Engineering, Inc. (FEI), provided code consulting services for the project. Specifically, FEI reviewed the proposed project to determine the applicable building and fire code requirements; developed a code summary related to building construction and life safety features; marked up drawings related to building construction and life safety features provided by the client; and reviewed final design drawings for conformance to applicable building and fire code requirements.
